BLM is threatening newly-elected New York Mayor Eric Adams with ‘riots, fire and bloodshed’ if he restores anti-crime units disbanded by Mr. Adams’s predecessor.
New York is America’s largest city and preeminent business center. The mayor of New York City has a job as big as any state governor or national politician. As such, Eric Adams could be considered the highest elected black official in the United States.
To threaten the mayor of New York City with violence takes gall let alone a mayor with roots as deep in the black community as Eric Adams. Yet that is exactly what BLM has done publicly. The New York Daily News reports:
Leaders of the city’s Black Lives Matter movement on Wednesday threatened “riots” and “bloodshed” in the streets if Mayor-elect Eric Adams reverses the abolition of the NYPD’s controversial anti-crime units. “If he thinks that they’re going to go back to the old ways of policing, then we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed because we believe in defending our people,” said Hawk Newsome, co-founder of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, after a heated meeting with Adams in Brooklyn Borough Hall.
Violence and intimidation are the tactics of extremists. By any measure, BLM is an extremist organization. Unfortunately, the corporate media are loathe to call out the extremism of BLM and organizations like Antifa. In this case they did. The New York Daily News (cited above) is a liberal paper. The more conservative New York Post‘s coverage of the meeting between Adams and BLM was similar.
