According to the Washington Post: absolutely nothing of any importance.
The August FBI raid on the home of Donald Trump’s private residence was something straight out of the playbook of banana republic dictatorships. Never in the history of the United States has one administration ever searched the private residence of a previous president or a political opponent.
Of course, the FBI would never have treated a Democrat this way. But this type of thuggish treatment by the hopelessly politicized FBI and Justice Department is the norm when it comes to Republicans. See for instance the treatment of Peter Navarro or Roger Stone.
So what did the FBI find in it’s raid. Nuclear secrets? No. Other important stuff? Hardly.
According to the Post, what Trump had in his possession were merely trophies and mementos of his time in office.
“Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.”
Of course, it was obvious from the beginning that the FBI was on a fishing expedition. For instance, the New York Times reports that 99 of the documents seized by the FBI were newspaper and magazine clippings.
All Americans should be disturbed by the creeping authoritarianism at the FBI and the Department of Justice. The raid and the treatment of Republicans shows that this country truly has a two-tiered justice system.
Hopefully the Republicans in the House of Representatives will investigate and force a thorough house cleaning at the top of the FBI and DOJ. Such a house cleaning is long overdue.
